Or at least update flash…

For those of you who haven’t yet heard I’ve got a new job. Friday 27 July will be my last day with Meznies and then I move on.

So now we have to find a house in Glasgow – shortens the commute somewhat.

I’m still running – hadn’t been out for far too long until this morning. Took my birthday present (MP3 player) out for a test drive. I have now officially decided I like having tunes when I run. I am doing a 5K on friday at a fundraising bash which will be my first competitive run since leaving school.

It must have been a while since I visited the gym – I decided to vary my plan and instead of running I would go to the gym tonight. Seems fine. We have these dinky key fob things which log you in and tell the kit what you’re doing and so on. When they work their pretty cool. But mine didn’t recognise me tonight. That’s because I’d been removed from the system. Anyway teh helpful young lady set me up again so I now have a free training program (free as in as much as I like not as in no payment)

Now I know why the guys at rehope were so keen to get back into their old building. Today was the first time Kate and I made it along since they moved back in. It’s great.

This year has been a real set of lessons in faith for me.

First up was finding a new church – whilst I knew we were right to be moving on I was worried about not finding somewhere and about how well we would be able to contribute our talents and energies to somewhere new. Now we’ve found a church, where we feel we can be active participants in a community of God’s people.

The building rehope are in now is a great illustration of faith in action. The guys felt so strongly that this was the right building for them that they’ve continued to pray for it after it was sold to someone else. Now that buyer is looking to sell it, and the guys are just praying that the price will be right. Something tells me they’ll keep on until it is as well.

That’s an encouragement for me, but it’s also a challenge because on a prsonal level it makes me realise how small my faith is. I’m job hunting and we need to find a new place to live in Glasgow. And I find it hard to keep believing that God will provide somewhere and something. This is in part due to my impatience, and there’s only one cure which unfortunately takes time.

So if you’re looking for something to pray for here’s a little list.

1. That rehope would get the building.

2. That we would get a house, near to rehope for preference.

3. That I would get a job.

On the off chance that you’re even remotely bothered about it I thought I would put in a final update on the church hunting we did.

We decided re:hope is that church for us. We feel very much a part of the rehope family already, and we’re thankful that God has lead us there.

Just a quick note to say  how proud I am of my little boy. He’s taking more and more steps unaided now. He grins away and laughs so much that he falls on his behind too. I guess that’s another plus to being a dad.

Once again I feel that I may have underestimated the degree of idiocy some people will display. This time it’s the turn of those crazy dudes at Boots who win the award for stating the overwhelmingly bleeding obvious.

Being a bloke who is suspicious of prepackaged sandwiches due to their high content of needless gunk I rarely pay the slightest bit of attention to the food section in Boots. However today I wandered in to get some bits and pieces and curiosity overcame me. I discovered to my surprise that their meal deal can be made up of a fruit salad in place of either a sarnie or a savoury salad ( another source of entirely more gunk than is reasonable (ie any) ). So I picked my fruit salad, and my drink and perused the snacks. now I am a big fan of snacks, especially savoury snacks. And I have a particular fondness for cashew nuts, which are always a treat because they are so very pricey. Boots however have a bag of cashews at a reasonable amount (about 99p I think) so my fate is sealed snackwise.

Lunch eaten (not the nuts) I had a read at the back of the packet – not for any reason other than too see what silliness I could find. Boy did I get lucky on that front. Like most foods this came with an Allergy advice warning, which on the face of it is fair enough, don’t want people turning odd colours and keeling over because they ate something. This one however was not likely to prevent anyone from making themselves ill from a reaction to cashews. Why do I say that. The notice reads  ‘Allergy Advice: Contains Cashew Nuts’ – seems fair so here’s the kicker – the bag is clear, and it says cashew nuts on the front. If that doesn’t provide sufficient information then nothing will.

On a semi related note for the folks a Boots – you’d better belive I’d be coming round for a quiet word if the bag didn’t contain cashew nuts.

I must be getting odd. No that’s not a typo. I have decided in my rather finite wisdom to run a 10K later this year. For no better reason than it seems like something that might be fun to do. Anyway I’ve started training (if such it could be called) this week. I’m trying to decide if I’m going to do this for charity or just for the sheer silliness of it. If you think I ought to do it for charity (and have a specific charity in mind or not) then let me know. If you think I’m silly keep it to yourself, after all the idea might get popular and no-one would take me seriously anymore(?) If you think you might like to join me that would be nice too.

I know that some of you already know this, but for the rest it will be news.

The Blamire family is expanding by one. Yes Kate is once again expecting, we had a scan today and everything is fine – we saw the baby’s heart beating which was pretty cool – the only problem (and I really am stretching the meaning of that word) was that the baby was a tad shorter than expected. It turns out Kate isn’t as pregnant as we thought so instead of the end of November MkII is estimated for just before Christmas.

We’ll get another scan in a few weeks to check everythings going fine and I xpect I’ll post a pic then.

I have for some time maintained that water is overrated. Especially when compared to tea. Anyhow it appears that once again the scientific world has caught up with what the enlightened ones already know. Tea is good for you. If you don’t believe me check out the link below.

Of course there’s another reason why tea is better to drink than water too. And if I get a massive grant I might share it with you…. oh allright I’ll share it anyway.

Tea tastes better.

Just in case you wondered. I took it. A while ago in the Lake District.
